Welcome Aboard Zizi Lagadec
We are delighted to announce Zizi Lagadec has joined our merry little troupe with her fantastic line art.
Zizi in her own words:
"Classifying my work is difficult for me as I haven’t based myself on any particular artist or style, nor have I studied art in the conventional way. My career has encompassed Quality Engineering with 3D CAD design and latterly, 3D garden design.
My family background was one of entrepreneurs, engineers & computer programmers. Art was considered a peaceful, distracting past-time but nothing more. However, my passion for drawing began when I was just 8 years old & has endured, alongside my love of writing.
Joseph Cheetham-Wilkinson, an artist whose work I have recently come to admire immensely, describes my drawings as “line art, pushing the boundaries of what might be considered comic art”. So, in view of Joe’s wealth of experience & skill, I am more than happy to accept his description!
However, I know Joe wants me to describe my style as I see it, so here goes!
Quirky.
Totally unique (because it’s created from this crazy head of mine).
Mostly with a humorous twist.
Minimalist.
Illustrative.
Capturing emotions & thoughts in my subjects & attempting to convey those emotions, thoughts & perceived personalities, to you, the viewer, in as few ink line strokes as possible.
Basically, I draw subjects exactly as I see them! Simple!
My mind is always busy; I write humorous poems; I’m a natural mimic (always talking in different voices to my extremely patient & talented artist husband Jean Lagadec) and I love to play pranks & to laugh.
All in all, my drawings are simply a reflection of who I am.
Umm……hold on a minute…..I believe I’ve just told you all that my work is quirky & simple………and that it’s a reflection of me……!!?? Eek…..Help me out please Joe!?
